"Down the Woods" is able to involve Parents and Children in a exciting programme of outdoor activities.
A session is 2 hours long costs £150 and includes, cooking on a real open fire, all the risk assessments and a selection of natural crafts for the children and adults to complete together, feedback sheets and a follow up pack for each family to encourage them to take their children outside.
Sessions can be tailor made to meet the children and parents needs.
Birchwood Children Centre has used "Down the Woods" to help parents to take a full active role in their child's outdoor play.
Parents comments on what they had learnt and what they planned to do-
"I plan to take the children for a walk and to get leaves to do crafts at home"
"Nithanal liked toasting the marshmallow and making the miniature garden best of all eating the popcorn, Zahraddin liked toasting the marshmallow and the wand"
"I loved the interactions with both my children, I promise to spend more time outside with them and learning together, i.e. bird walks and playing in the woods."
"Both the girls really enjoyed their morning. It was lovely to do activities outside with the girls. We shall plan a trip to the woods as a family."
"Please come back soon, very lovely morning. Thank you. We will go bug hunting in the woods."
"Down the Woods" took out a dads group with children who have special needs to a local wood to take part in some wonderful woodland play.
We aim to get as many people as possible outside and love to work with adults as well as children to encourage this to happen.
